The new whistleblowing bill transposes the EU Directive 2019/1937 into Swedish law aims to strengthen the whistleblower protection framework. Whistleblowing law requires all private and public employers with 50 or more employees to have internal reporting channels for whistleblowers. The internal reporting channel should be managed in a secure, GDPR-compliant manner that ensures the confidentiality of the reporting person (whistleblower).

Failure to establish channels may result in criminal penalties.
